About me
Julia Taylor – Public Environmental Education Coordinator. Julia is originally from Portland, Oregon on traditional Chinook, Cowlitz, and Atfalati territories and moved to Vancouver on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm territory for her BSc at UBC. She studied as an International Scholar in the Global Resource Systems program within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and specialized in ecology, biodiversity, and sustainable food systems. During her time at UBC, she worked as a Student Ambassador delivering campus tours, as well as for the UBC Farm doing biodiversity monitoring surveys and science communication, and the Plant-Insect Ecology and Evolution (PIEE) Lab as a research assistant for pollinator surveys. Some of Julia's interests ecologically include native bees, mushrooms, insects in general, native plants, intertidal organisms, and she's learning more and more about our beautiful bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, etc)! In other free time, Julia likes to bake, read, play with her cat, listen to podcasts, poke around outside, and craft.
